Happy New Year's Day, 2011, everyone.
I'm going to bed, but here's a very brief update on the situation in Bolivia: EvoMorales gave his speech trying to explain the gas price thing a couple nights ago. Lots of people were still angry. There were protests, strikes, a lot of harsh words from critics of all political stripes, and a little violence in the streets. At 10:15 pm on New Year's Eve, Morales announced that he was revoking the decree ending the gasoline and diesel subsidies, and everything will now go back to the way it was on and before Christmas.
Even briefer headline version: Bolivian government uses slow week between Christmas and New Year's to try out it's Gilda-Radner-as-Emily-Litella act in front of a live, national audience. "Nevermind....."

happy belated new years1 hope you keep it going
if it was any other president....the indigenous would have protested until he was kicked out the way they did with Goni...how strange...unfortunately the poor are still poor and ignorant in the sense that they are not educated and Evo will make sure that stays that way...
